Brush, Yard Waste & Leaves

Brush is tree and shrub trimmings over 18″ in length. Brush may not exceed 8′ length and 8″ diameter. Remove all roots, stumps and dirt, then place brush on the terrace at the street edge away from trees, parked cars, fire hydrants, utility poles, mail boxes and other obstructions. Do not put brush in the street.

Stack brush with the cut ends facing the same direction. Tie small amounts of brush in bundles, using string or twine. Bundles may not exceed 4 feet in length or weigh more than 40 pounds.

DO NOT PUT BRUSH IN BAGS, BOXES, OR TRASH CONTAINERS.

The following material will NOT be collected:

Brush cut or trimmed by contractors will not be collected. Contractors hired by the property owners are responsible for removing material. Do not let them leave it at the curbside.

Small twigs and branches less than 18″ in length will not be collected.

Firewood will not be collected.

Yard waste, namely leaves and dead plants too small to be considered brush cannot be put in the trash. These items must be taken to the yard waste disposal site at 402 South Point Road.

The city collects leaves in fall from curbside. Pile your leaves loosely at the street edge, keeping leaves separate from brush. Avoid piling leaves around or next to mail boxes, trees and utility poles. Do not put leaves in the street — it is against city law and contributes to algae growth in the lakes.

Information about brush and leaf collection can be found at the city Streets & Recycling website.
